McLaren Warranty Extension
Discussion
Afternoon All,
Just heard back from my dealer that the extended warranty on my 650S Spider will be £3,980.00 if you renew before the expiry date, or £4,480.00 if lapsed. Both Inc.VAT.
For completeness, my warranty expires 30/04/2018.
Has anybody else enquired recently, and if so, have they had any different prices quoted?
Thanks in advance...

Thanks. I’ll definitely be doing it before expiry, but was more baffled by the price increase from £3.5k - just wanted to ensure consistency/accuracy.
Did they quote for a 2 year extension? Fearrari warranty has a great reputation on here
Not worth the paper it's written on IMHO - suspension claims - the most common issue on a 458 is not covered! They will wriggle out of anything in the name of wear and tear. Warranty Direct cover Wear and Tear and are brilliant. Have had them on a few supercars or GTs in the past and they have always paid up.
Totally agree with PrancingHorses - I had an F430 for 3 years under warranty and can tell you that Ferrari warranty is a joke, they don't pay out! Best to keep the funds and self-insure.
At least the McLaren warranty is comprehensive, I would rather pay more knowing it actually covers you for when you need it.
Over the years on PistonHeads I have read countless threads from disappointed Fearrai owners who’s experience has been not been what they expected at claim time.
I think the best one was cracking exhaust manifolds, on a supposedly high performance car, you could not make it up

Yes please, just wondered if they still give a discount if you opt for a 2yr extension...
Just renewed mine (4th year) - couple of weeks before 3rd anniversary.Yes the prices have gone up (I challenged the new cost and it was confirmed).
12 Months - £3980.00
24 Months - £7590.24

I understand the non pukka Mc warranties have single claim limits of 10-15k depending on policy, so premium is cheaper tho if major gearbox or engine failure you’d not be fully covered if car went to main dealer (Mc warranty would cover). Main dealers simply change out complete failed g/box for eg and don't strip and repair, hence the stratospheric repair costs ... think exchange g/box is £20k ish?

Not 570 experience, but 650S Spider - I decided to leave the £4K in me savings account and go down the ‘self-insure’ route. Having owned the car with full warranty without any issues pre-expiry, I felt a little more confident taking the supposed ‘risk’, as the car has been faultless.
Additionally, I wanted to try and dispel the reliability myths too, and putting bullish statements like this out on t’internet, tends to tempt fate a little!
However, 6 months outside warranty, solid as a rock (fingers, toes and anything else very much crossed)! Great cars...

Through official McLaren dealer?
I am really struggling guys, trying to stay neutral, however net is full of complaints and scary things about macca. Depretiation plus Warranty cost don't help.
What's the service cost per year, let's say in the first 4 years?
Btw thanks for the answers, I can almost hear the silence here, desolated place, not lot of people answering...

Vast majority of owners appear to avoid PH due to the trolling by a couple of people. You will find the owners (and rapid answers to anything) in the closed owners club.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
