Police say they are conducting enquiries to determine who was driving a £200k supercar that crashed into a tree in Hutton.
The black McLaren 650s spider – that is priced at more than £200k – suffered extensive damage to its front after colliding with a tree in Hutton Poplars – off Rayleigh Road in Brentwood.
The 12c – that is capable of more than 200 mph – is one of the most recognisable supercars on the planet.
According to Essex Police there were no injuries following the crash that happened around 2.40pm today, Wednesday.
They added that although there have been no arrest police are seeking to determine who was driving at the time.
The MP4-12C 200mph supercar had a list price of £168,500 when it was launched in 2011 but many cost more than £200,000 once buyers had added some options.
However, prices have dipped significantly since the launch of the 650S and second hand prices of the McLaren – the brand's first supercar since the legendary F1 was sold in the late 1990s – were hovering around £140,000 before the 650S was announced but have now fallen to around £120,000.
Peter Brook, managing director of Oracle Finance, said in 2014: "While that might not look like a bargain to many, a 12C for around the price of a new Audi R8 V10 is plain silly – some are going for nearly half the price they sold for new."
"The 12C is a great car and not nearly as common on the roads as its rival from Ferrari, the 458. The McLaren might not have been the road testers' car of choice out of the two, but it was, and still is, very good indeed and at these prices is worth considering. Many Oracle Finance customers who have had both prefer the 12C over the Ferrari, which says a lot."

Does Mr Brook pay for this advertising or does he have shares in the paper?Police say they are conducting enquiries to determine who was driving a £200k supercar that crashed into a tree in Hutton.

This happened opposite my house at 2.40pm. The car was seen being driven erratically earlier in the day too. Early photos it looked like the very young driver standing by it or it could of been the first witness at the scene. The guy was a complete plank - there are 2 primary schools there and a pre school I dread to think what could of happened. The council are there at the moment putting up the new lamp post!!
