Anyone else spot the advert in the latest issue of Octane - Simon kidston has (or probably had) a GTR for sale.

Features one simple, glorious head on shot of a white GTR which is an ex-Le Mans car & is said to be probably the last unrestored 'as raced' GTR in existence.

No other details or photos with the advert. The car isn't shown on his website so, & I know someone will have all the details, which car is it?

Looks mean & moody in the advert. Perfectly symmetrical apart from the red tow hook on the left hand side!!

Chassis #25R, it has resided in Japan for AGES and is the most raced GTR.

I knew that someone would know which car it was.

What livery did it race in - the photo doesn't give any clue as it appears to be devoid of any sponsors logo's.

It also ran in other livery's - Tajimax, Yellow Corn, Zero, Purpose

It raced at Le Mans in the Gulf Davidoff livery mentioned earlier

Would this add to or detract from its value?

What do we think the likely £ would be for that?

It depends - add to or reduce value relative to what? Are we comparing to a car that did well at Le Mans, or to a car that was never raced?

A Japanese buyer might find the Japanese history appealing; a US buyer wouldn't care, and might be put off by a car that had seen a lot of hard use.

Also, it depends on the success of the car (e.g. 30 races but 30 DNF's would make it worth less than 30 races with a variety of finishes), which races it ran in (lots of track days / non-championship races isn't as sought after as lots of Le Mans / FIA GT / BPR [for early short tails] history) and which team prepared and ran it (it's all well and good being the most-raced GTR but if Arthur Daley Motors raced it I wouldn't touch it, but if Lanzante / Nova Engineering / GTC etc prepared and raced it that's a different matter).

It's price will also depend on if there is another longtail GTR coming up or sale to hinder it's exclusivity at the time of sale, and where it is sold - my belief is that this may become another road-converted longtail GTR so it's market is limited on the rules and regs for whichever country it ends up in.

All the history is listed here:

http://www.kidston.com/kidston-cars/2560/1997-McLa...

Race history includes several 'Did not finish' and an engine fire.....
I suppose it could have a more decorated history!
Don't these go for about £12m ?

looking at the kidston Advert i just realised that I have a model of this actual car sat on office desk for a few years,

like to get the real thing to go with it, but where would I put it ( and the obvious that I can not afford it )

smile

$12 million, possibly, for a standard road car. Short tail GTR's converted for the road can command £12m+ depending on its race history.
