I see no test drives, no prices, no owners.

what is the deal with a 540C, can one just go spec one up and in 3 months go pick it up ?

I have one on order. Deposit down last July, Specced it before Christmas and will be driving it away from McLaren Ascot at the end of April.
I am just waiting on a build/VIN number so that I can go view it in build.

I finalised my spec and paid the final deposit a couple of weeks ago and expect delivery mid-May so, in answer to your question... Yes.

not many then.

Seems odd no info or you tube vids or test drives on this car, it's all 570S.

Porsche line up has been around for 70 years we tend to know what we are getting with the turbo and turbo S, options and BHP.

McLaren range is all new, It's hard to find details on the cars and even prices !

Does the 540C have all the same setup and parts as the 570S ? seems not !
"the 540C gains revised dampers which aim to make the ride smoother than in the 570S "

I don't get the line up, what does C stand for ? " Clubsport" that would mean to me "hard core", but the LT is the hardcore one.

S is Sports Series at a guess but the 540c is also in the "Sports Series" So should it not be the 540S ?

now with have LT and GT range.

what is C ?

:-)

C = Club not Clubsport, you need to get out of Porsche mode wink
S = Sport

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 'C' was for carbon, because it has a carbon tub and other carbon bits.

It is C for Carbon in the 12C anyway.

I've been told the car is all but identical to the 570 bar power output and some items of spec being standard on the 570 and not on the 540

540 is down on power, does not have extended leather, does not have carbon brakes, has softer suspension and has some different finishes to the plastic parts (palladium instead of black iirc) compared to to the 570.

As has been said 'C' is for club.

Only about £500 over my confirmed spec, albeit a few differences in options chosen.
I was determined not to stray too far into no-spec 570 territory, so quite happy with that.

I've got one on order, the 540's supposedly, easier to live with on a daily basis, a little less harsh, etc. The differences are fairly minimal, I've yet to see a 570 with it's base spec interior etc, so both cars tend to see a fair number of options. That said mine's got pretty much everything I wanted, Lux Pack, Security Pack, upgraded interior, etc, and it's still slightly less than the base price of a 570, ( I've avoided the carbon though, that's the real wallet killer! ). I felt the 530bhp was plenty enough and I didn't feel the need to option up carbon brakes on a daily ride. The Sports Series is an ever expanding range though, albeit so far upwards! The new GT's more than the standard 570, spiders will be launched next year and McLaren have just announced GT4 and Sprint versions.

Would you mind me asking what that came out at?

It's a good job I have a house to build this year or I'd be getting the cheque book out - I can't keep off the configurator spin

The "Security Pack" is oddly named if you ask me, as the only thing that strikes me as a security device in its inclusions is the Alarm Upgrade, which is less than 10% of the pack cost.

Security Pack includes:
Vehicle Lift £1990
Front and Rear Parking Sensors £960
Rear View Camera £990
Car Cover £440 eek!!
Volumetric Alarm Upgrade £270
