Anyone on here been treating their car to a Private Plate from the DVLA Auction?

MCL 570S went for just shy of £8k
650 MCL went for just over £11k
675 LTS went for over £60k rotate Clearly more than one person was after it!

So who would keep that 60k plate to put on another non 675 car and who would be willing to shell out over 60k over and above the price of this 675 if the plate stays with the car

Those prices are insane, especially that 675 price.

Will always be folk with more money than sense.

I started a topic back in January, but did not expect those prices! Don't see logic in spending much cash on a car-specific plate as the next buyer may not be interested.

Kicking myself now for not buying R8 LMX when it was for sale for £2k... bet that could have been worth a lot more now?

Or just folks with more money than they need so why not! I wanted 458SA that was at an auction last year. That ended up at circa 130k with the fees etc

Clearly a lot of wealth out there!

I bought this plate, P11 OOU and P11 OOA last year and went with V on the car. I loved the P1 OOV /A/U on the press P1's rather than the more recent MCL plates so thought the similar but P11 format would be nice, relevant and not too expensive,

I bought 458RED on Friday. Set myself a limit of £7.5k and it zoomed up to that with bids in the book. Going once, clicked to ad £100 as my first bid and he said no more bids in the book so ended up getting it. Happy with that and will be nice match with my Red 458:-) Didn't see anything I liked for the McLaren though.

Is there a reason why a lot of McLaren press cars have "Y" plates? A quick Google images search brings up:

Y26 MCL
Y27 MCL
Y28 MCL
Y29 MCL
Y33 MCL
Y80 MCL
Y121 MCL
Y600 MCL
Y900 MCL
