...from the boss. In fact she said "get it quickly before you change your mind (again)"

So I'm looking for a volcano orange or volcano red 12C coupe. Like the look of the car at Romans but no IRIS2. There is an orange car at Ascot but the door panel colour looks different to the paint around the air intake - this could be what another member was referring to in another thread. And a red one at Glasgow which looks nice.

Mileage doesn't really put me off, and the only options I care about are interior CF (as the silver panel looks awful) and heated seats. I don't have heated seats on any of my cars at the moment and the thought of dropping £120k and not having them is troubling.

All tips from those who have recently taken the plunge are most welcome. Feel free to contact me with cars available privately.

Joel

Utterly beautiful but I just have the feeling the colour is a little too shouty for me. I wonder how close it is to Murcielago orange, I take it it is metallic / pearl?

Maybe I should go and see it in the metal, everything else about it is perfect.

Don't dismiss a good car due to Iris 1......I have it in mine and had no issues...used the Sat Nav to take me from Birmingham to Southampton with my phone connected via the blue tooth......no issues at all. Yes the system is a little clunky and sluggish at times but acceptable to me.

As for heated seats, not even a consideration for me..........in fact, not even sure if my car has them or not!

Carbon Fibre in the engine bay was important to me, as the plastics of the standard stuff is pretty low rent in my opinion.......the standard base wheels are pretty bland too........the only must have for me was a McLaren warranty.......

It's VERY shouty......my car is the same McLaren Orange and it's almost luminous orange that pictures just don't seem to pick up accurately....

I've been lucky enough to spend a fair bit of time around the 12c in many different colours and that orange really does suit the car. The lighter colours tend to show off the lines a lot better than darker ones. The spec and condition look very good so I'd definitely take a look.

I saw a Mc Orange 12C at Ascot in September that had 8K miles on it. It isn't a metallic finish but still looked amazing.

Is yours ex Ascot or Bols Sarnie? Alastair's photographic skills bring out more authentic colouring.

Think that's the cheapest 2013 model I've seen, but lack of carbon and 20K miles probably explains it. Good to see a car having some proper use though!

Can anyone confirm which carbon fiber pieces are actually carbon fiber?

I believe the dash is only carbon fiber 'effect' (i may be wrong?) but what about the plethora of other pieces all of which cost £££'s new.

Ultimately they're all only aesthetic and some like the seat backs pretty hidden.

Personally i quite like the wheel arches and sills in cf which i think look nice as you open the door, but you don't see many cars with these(?).

These aftermarket carbon parts suggest the McLaren ones are the real deal.... The original parts ought to be for the prices listed!

Ok talk to me about warranties... I have spotted a car which ticks my boxes but it is not at a McLaren dealer. The dealer in question offers an RAC warranty.

Presumably I can add the McLaren warranty as well, but at a cost of £3.5k - do I have that right?

Morning- not sure if it needs a check over first but yes the Mclaren warranty can be added.
Maybe easier to get the current owner to do it.

You need to have owned the car 90 days to add the warranty. McLaren also need to assess the car and that is around £700 from what I have been told, plus any work that might need doing to get it to 'qualified' standard. In addition if the previous owner has let the warranty lapse the assessment fee applies, not sure if you need to wait another 90 days though. If you buy a car with an RAC or other warranty it probably won't be as comprehensive as the McLaren warranty. Also if you do buy the McLaren warranty you will have already paid around £1,500 for the RAC one and that will be money wasted. You could risk buying without the RAC warranty and you will have a 90 day period with no warranty. If you can get the previous owner to put on the warranty that would be the best situation as I believe it is transferable but not sure that works if the car sits with a dealer. I have been round in circles with these scenarios as i have been looking to buy and in the end just decided t was worth buying from McLaren. Actually McLaren have some of the better priced cars at the moment over specialists, private cars are a little cheaper but would you buy without any warranty and a 90 day wait?
