Is it possible to park a McLaren in a typical supermarket/multi story car park space and actually be able to get in/out?

The way the doors open i'm concerned that they need need quite a lot of width to be able to open fully. If someone has parked too close can you actually get in/out if the doors are only half open?

If i get one i'd be using it as a semi-every day car and not being able to park in town would be bloody annoying. Even more annoying would be parking it and getting back to find i can't get back in because someone has parked too close. (Can the spider roof be opened from the key fob for emergency ingress? laugh)

Similarly what about parking in a conventional domestic garage? Anyone able to confirm the width/height required? Thanks.

No chance of ever owning a McLaren, however what the OP has posted has often got me wondering about the real world practicalities of how the doors open.

The problem I found with the SLR was not the width required but the door would often be restricted by the wing mirror of the parked car when it rose up. The actual outward swing on the door was less than a normal door.

There was at least one thread about 12-18 months ago about garage dimensions - essentially if you can get it in the garage you can lower the window and then need about 18 inches to get out (as I recall)

I also have a standard sized garage, carpet on the wall so the door opens onto that, easy smile

I have a standard single garage and am collecting my Maclaren on Thursday.
Fingers crossed that I will be able to get out.

It's quite deceiving, the Mac doors will open in about the same space you'd open the doors on a normal 2 door car.
Watch the height though if you go in a European multi-storie!

Went and saw the guys at McLaren Ascot today.

They said that they had reduced the number of parking spaces infront of the building because of the need for more space getting in & out.

Interestingly the new 570S doors don't open as wide, which together with the front of the sills being lower make it easier to get in & out of. This I'm told was done specifically to make the car more usable on a daily basis and in direct response to customer feedback.

NB. Whilst the doors don't open as wide they do open higher, so parking in a multistory car park or garage might prove more of an issue(?)
