Static trackdays noise test
Discussion
No-one else has replied to your last request so my suggestion is 105 will be no problem and pretty sure 102 is ok - 99 might be pushing your luck
If you want to be absolutely sure take it to a local track when a track day is running and ask them to check it

Check in with Ben at Mclaren Ascot to be sure as he will know this I think... but from memory, it's 100db at 4k rpm with the standard exhaust. Happily the software now doesn't allow you to rev and hold much past 4k rpm on neutral as well
With the standard exhaust it will be a surprise if you had a problem outside of Bedford/Goodwood. I failed the Brands static test but managed to talk them into letting me out and shortshifting a bit early on the straights, never had a problem with the drive by.

Please post how you get on with this as Im looking at brands GP 101db and I have the sports exhaust fitted.
Anyone care to comment on factory Sport db ?
Thanks
You should be ok at Brands. If you fail the static test (try to keep the car in normal to ensure you don't rev past 4k and don't be too helpful stamping on the throttle initially), promise to lift slightly or shortshift down the straight and you won't get into trouble on the driveby which is the real issue and they should hopefully agree to let you out. I've been out twice at Brands without being black flagged.Anyone care to comment on factory Sport db ?
Thanks
Thanks, having been shafted by MSV previously at snetterton in my 993 to the tune of £250 that still had the MSV sticker on from a previous day at Brands I am more than a bit reluctant to gamble a further £500 on the off chance.
I think safest bet as I live close to brands is go check on next day off.

Measurement will vary with ambient temp, humidity, and wind speed and direction. Also, the noise testing equipment itself is not perfectly accurate.I think safest bet as I live close to brands is go check on next day off.
As advised above, bring revs up gradually, being sure not to spike them at the start. Always better to have the tester coaxing you to raise the revs further to the threshold, rather than reaching it on your own.
The noise testing equipment at brands is very accurate!
The chances of it hitting a 101 are very slim pop down and we will test it but not in normal mode!
And remember its 3/4 max rpm not 2/3 so test is in track mode at 6300 rpm like I say I would not expect it to pass a 101 dB test.

Most people will go to a noise test expecting, "My car got X at this track, so it will get X at that different track."The chances of it hitting a 101 are very slim pop down and we will test it but not in normal mode!

Even if the testing equipment at Brands were perfectly accurate, in order for someone to make a meaningful prediction, the equipment at the comparable circuit would need to be equally accurate.
My point was that the kit is certificated periodically in line with MSA ACU requirements and every day it is recalibrated using the calibrator within . However it is entirely correct that you cannot compare readings and expect them to be identical as weather, humidity, environment etc. will alter the reading.
I had the goodwood guys test mine last Sat. Was 102-103db static, and, although the engine will rev past 4l in neutral, it won't sustain that. My car has the standard exhaust.
So it's simple really; noisy days only......and hence was not an issue at silverstone.
edit to add: the goodwood chaps did mention that Mac's tend to be noisy static and quieter driveby. Dunno if that's reflected in the facts as it was plenty loud enough at full chat at Silverstone.
