Time between Coupe and Spider.

Hi Chaps,
Does anyone know what the time between the models was for 12C and 650S?
I'm just wondering what the timescale would likely be for the 540/570 Spider.
Thanks
Gary
I cannot remember but I think it will be longer this time around as they struggled selling coupes after the spiders came out.....so I think they will sell as may coupes as they can first before launching the spiders.Does anyone know what the time between the models was for 12C and 650S?

Even if the audience for this car is different and might very well have 2 distinct pools of customers for coupes and spiders.

I suppose as a 52 year old balding bugger, a Coupe would be more appropriate anyway

It's this thing about the performance being identical that puts the nail in the coupes coffin I think.
I wanted a coupe, never owned a soft top car before because there was always a dip in the performance of the Spider, but when you realise the Mclarens are equally brutal in either form it's pretty hard to resist!

The coupe/convertible question is interesting with these cars. I'm not fussed about convertible cars in general and usually put off by the compromises...but obviously not with the 12c/650.
Is it strange that there are more coupes for sale than spiders given the relative (I think) sales numbers between them?
Not that there are that many for sale at all!

With the 12C/650s, it is nice to be able to choose what float your boat without much compromise. Is it strange that there are more coupes for sale than spiders given the relative (I think) sales numbers between them?

For example, I prefer coupes from an aesthetic, stiffness vs weight (I know it is similar) and wind noise. And i don't like driving the top down, so no need or interest in a spider.
There might have been more coupe then spiders 12C made given the time between the two and the fact that the 650 came rapidely shortly after the 12C spider ? But it is definitely the other way around with the 650.
Interesting point about the amount cars up for sale. If you remove the LHD cars, there are only 3 650s for sale ! That should strengthen their value now (now you can jump GRB

To be fair not many 12Cs around either that fit the bill for me. Sports exhaust/lifting gear seem to be essentials for me...apart from the other points like colour/carbon bits. Plus I've yet to see a single one on the road (apart from my own test drive!). I'm reduced to watching Shmee's exploits on YouTube - and as fun and well made as they are, it's no substitute for the real thing!
Get the perfect spec for you Gary and that's all that matters I reckon, that's one of the benefits of buying new.

On a 12C I would be very surprised if you really need the front lifter (650s are a bit different to be fair). sports exhaust can be retrofit easily enough as well as part of a deal to buy a car if from an official dealer I am very sure...

I'm with you on that, with 650's I prefer the lines of the coupe to the spider. Doubt the fact that its 40kg lighter will make any difference on the road. I have a couple of convertibles & its really rare that I put the top down unless I happen to be in a speed restricted area For example, I prefer coupes from an aesthetic, stiffness vs weight (I know it is similar) and wind noise. My current car - Aston Virage struggles to get up and down the driveway without scraping the bottom. Have to go super-slo-mo. Just figured that the 12C/650S would be that bit lower.SELON said:

I used to "kiss" the road or speed bumps with my previous V12V where I don't with the 12C.The issue with the 12C is the curved strakes behind the front wheel that can touch on sudden or short speed bumps.
