maybe a bit stupid but never had to wash a car with an exposed engine so does anyone know if it's okay to jetwash as normal for a 650/12c as the engine is partially exposed. Guess the same applies to ferraris and lambos but I don't have one of those biggrin

Just for the wheels.....If you have any form of paint protection - then use (two) buckets hand wash.....

Thanks! Looks like taking it to an expensive car wash as my apartment block doesn't allow car washing in the garage

Mine's fully covered in paint protection film. Power cleaning is not an issue, just think about where the edges are and don't jet at them! I also power clean the engine bay with no problem ;-)

The engine bay is the bit I'm most worried about. Have partial protection film which I ace been instructed on regarding jet washing but not sure how well the engine will like having so much water thrown at it. Having said that , it does get rained on a lot so suppose just have to be careful around that part. Or be lazy and let someone else do it!

I've owned several mid-engined cars with vented/slatted engine covers and never had a problem jet washing my cars.

Use a variable power nossle, don't get too close and don't point the water directly into the engine bay and you'll be fine.

I take my McLaren most weeks to my friendly car wash. It's hand washed the jet rinsed. They always wipe out the engine bay. No problems.

I've used a jet wash on my cars for years without issue. I've seen main dealers and detailers using a jet wash in the engine bay albeit not under full pressure. I would add I have seen one of them spray WD40 over the engine once rinsed down.
Can't see what the fuss is about.

I use a Karcher to jet and snow foam my 650S... no issues at all. A lot worse things will get in there than soapy water... leaves, road grime etc. I wouldnt jet in the engine bay directly though.
