Just had my renewal in via A-Plan/Aviva - £1099 on 4k miles...
anyone else I should try?
Following the advice of Geoff I contacted Admiral. Was quoted £700 on their multicar policy and £800 on their single car policy. They seem to be about half the price of my previous insurer. But check the small prints, there are significant differences in the level of cover.anyone else I should try?
I could see 2 major ones:
1. Replacement car is not garanteed if the car is being repaired at a non-approved garage on their list - which for a McLaren is almost certain it will not. The other insurance garantees the replacement car and also replace like for like.
2. In case of loss, the othe insurer would refund the cost of the car AT PURCHASE. Admiral will only pay fair value at time of loss.
Point 1 is not that a problem and for £700 you can rent your own car if needs be.
Point 2 however could make a substancial difference.
I have been insured before with Admiral on the Audi A8..no issues with it going to the Audi dealer...also if there where issues i don't think the run of the mill garage is going to have the right equipment to sort out a carbon fibre tub. Like my Audi. They where pretty good to be honest. Plus....as they don't make the MP4 anymore you aren't going to get a replacement vehicle. When i got mine i specified every extra that i had and sent a copy of the invoice to prove what was on the car plus photo's. So no one could say they didn't know.
