Even if the Collecting Cars result was low during the pandemic, surely the 'right' money for one of these is still around £600k?

4 years with my favourite stock has been circa 1,900%. They've obviously bought it as an investment, had to insure it and store it - so as an investment isn't amazing. It's a lovely car but not £1m lovely.

Sold mine in 2002 for just over 40k, it was a red winged QV and after ten years of ownership I just about got my money back! Shame my crystal ball didn’t work!

And there's the problem. - £40k in 2002 is roughly £82,500 now. Factor in circa £15k a year for storage, insurance and maintenance (£330k), and forget the ludicrous £1m valuation and you start to realise you didn't do the wrong thing.

There's nothing complicated - firstly I met a company called Tesla at the Goodwood Festival of Speed - they were dynamic and forward thinking so a bunch of us invested - that lasted until a certain car show that also was around their top market value (and we understood why)



Tesla made me think about microchips if driverless was to actually work which led to an investment in Nvidia, which has also done well but I doubt I'd sell.



There's an investment thread and I've said all of this at the point of purchase rather than in the past.

Quite staggering really looking how the Countach has increased so much and so quickly in such a short time where the Boxer appears

to have gone the other way over the last couple of years which makes it to me the bargain it is,

At one time prices asked were £300/£3500K probably driven up by the £500K/£600K prices of the Daytona which also seems to have dropped

to where the Boxer was,

I paid £38K for my 81 rhd Countach in 2007 and sold it for £200K at Silverstone auction in 2016 ,

Nothing expensive fell off it ,just routine maintenance of which i mostly carried out myself leaving the heavier jobs to Mr Pullen,

The car was advertised quite recently for £575K with very little cosmetic work done,

I now believe it's been sold to a gentleman who lives in the middle east somewhere but not sure if the sellers got anywhere near the asking price,

Done the right thing at the time ,put my daughter on the property ladder,repaired much needed repairs on my crumbling down house with

enough change to buy a couple more classics on my wish list ,

Do i miss it,of cause i do,maybe not the fastest super car i've owned but without question the most exciting in the way of theatre ,

Do i wished i kept it and regret selling especially in the way value's are today ,

Could lie and say money isn't every thing in life which it's not but bloody hell all that extra fun i would have had plus in theory

getting paid for it while doing so , driving Hey Ho !!

Your 1981 LP400S has spent a lot of time at Iain Tyrell’s place, as it has been in the background in several of his videos.

He’s had up to 5 LP400S in his workshop recently: Red, yellow, blue and two black

Yes Robert i have to put up with looking at it every time i watch Iain 's video's,

They seem to keep quiet about the work they are doing on it unlike the other cars in the workshop.

There's probably a good reason for it ,

Maybe the owner wants anonymity and doesn't want the car shown individually ,

The car was in good shape mechanically but needed some attention to the paintwork also

i think the fuel lines would have needed replacing at some time as although there was no leaks there

was a slight smell of petrol ,I always carried at least 5 fire extinguishers with me just in case,

Despite 2 change of colours from the original gold it had never been restored and because of this there was

some signs of rust on a couple of the tubes on the space frame chassis whether these jobs had been done before it was sold

i don't really know, could be why it's at Iain's workshop.
