Hi all,

Just been offered a series 3 , full interior retrim and electrics and bare metal respray just completed .

It hasn’t run for 4 years because of ongoing work .

I can have it for 70k which I think is great or 75 with an mot and running. Seller says will probabaly need 2-3 k to get it up to speed but could cover it all for 5 hence the 75.

What are your thoughts ? Would like to have headache free but then again not spend 5k when the seller may only scrimp and cost save on getting it just past MOT. I appreciate that the v12 could also be very expensive to fix. Value your thoughts!

Firstly, the classic market is readjusting currently and good value now, may not seem so a couple of years forward.

I have not seen the car,so all the following comments are qualified to the available info.

You will not find a 70's Lamborghini headache free .
£5 -10 k is very easily spent.

The car appears to have received cosmetic work, but little or no mechanical work in the last four years.

Unless the car was A1 mechanically before it was laid up four years ago, it will need a lot of re commissioning.
.
Is the seller competent to undertake re commissioning of the car.

If not, have you decided who you will use to recommission?

Of the work undertaken ( re trim ,paint ,electrics) what standard is the work, is it to original spec ( eg perforated leather original paint colour )and is there documentary evidence?

Are any non standard fittings present?.

For me i would not buy the car at the price quoted, without hearing the engine run with a compression check and a test drive to assess the basics.
After a test drive you can then price any work and decide if it still represents value to you.

Having said the above, there are few Espadas available, but if you do not test drive, you run the risk of substantial work, or alternatively risk the seller recommissioning the car.

Hope this is useful .

Get Colin Clarke to have a look at it.

I wonder why the seller doesn't spend that comparatively small amount now to get it running and MOT'd? He'd surely recoup his money back with a higher asking price and possibly more interested buyers (it would take a brave soul to buy a non-running Espada).

That’s good enough for me , I’ll get him to get it sorted and running and take for test drive. Car has been restored to original and yes To a very high spec . The engine turned over last year then the reminder became unwell and car was left there until now . I’ve bought 2 other cars off the guy and thou I’ve had to put work in been satisfied ( he’s nit a dealer but a collector). But the other 2 were runners.

I got Colin Clarke to check over my urraco that wasn’t a cheap experience and it wasn’t even a service .

75 motd running and after a test drive seems like a good idea
