Well a job I had planned for the end year has now been forced upon me when I had a front shock fail yesterday on the way back from the CWC event..

Original parts appear rare and silly money. Aside from what I have found on jalpa.ch has anyone any experience of sourcing an alternative replacement strut or getting the original items overhauled ?

banghead Arhhgg .. Total sense of humour failure on this now ...

I still have my Jalpa in the air awaiting shocks. Does anyone have any suggestions other than Lamborghini direct about either sourcing inserts for these units or having the originals refurbished ?

Please do not suggest AST - a total censored I am astounded they are still in business !!

Helpful suggestions appreciated....

Try Bilstein, Gaz Shocks or Ohlins. Am led to believe Ohlins are the best, but you will pay for the quality.

Bilstein refurbished my 456 shocks for £40 each with a 2 week turn around - worth giving them a ring, as they can do other manufacturers too.

I had my Jalpa suspension rebuilt by a Koni specialist in Buckingham. ISTR they were called Sportline.

2 week turnaround. If you're getting one axle done, you might as well get the lot done.

Let me know if you need any info, I could try to dig out an invoice.

smash - Clucking Bell that took far longer than it should !!

Finally the Jalpa is back on the ground and ready to return to active duty. Having wasted months waiting for AST to "get parts into stock" I found fantastic one man outfit specialist who rebuilt all 4 corners. All the items have been cleaned and powder coated and they look like new. I had brand new springs made up as well (after all this time, it was false economy not to) and each corner now looks fab and feels as it should.

Very pleased with the result, but I am now running out of jobs to do on this rolling restoration. I think a complete exhaust system is the only major item left, although I may try to source some Silhouette wheels because I just think the standard items don't do the car justice ...

Anyone with Lamborghini Suspension rebuild works on their list, I can recommend my contacts - drop me a mail for details.

All I gotta do now I wait for the warm sunny weather to return and driving

I'd be interested in the contacts - I'll drop you a note. It's not on my to-do list yet but good contacts are hard to find. On the exhaust side, Eurospares seem to be breaking a Jalpa at the moment so it may be worth speaking to them.
