In all seriousness i remember turning down 35-40k countaches and 50-60k diablo vt's

I know what the current prices are now but even if you wanted either where are thay all!!!

Are these now unobtainable,i just dont understand are people just locking them away and polishing them?

I have a Diablo VT tucked up in the garage awaiting appearance of the sunshine.

My guess is that this is what many owners are doing. These are old cars now with spares either difficult to source or dam expensive, so I for one limit my use to 6 months of the year and never in the rain, let alone the weather we have been having of late !

Are you asking where they are in the market (ie, why so few are for sale) or why aren't they on the roads?

If the former, the prices are such these days that Countachs and the like disappear quickly if they're priced correctly (not POA) and that's assuming they appear on the market at all. Quite a few will change hands privately through connections - hence people like Elms actively seeking them on behalf of clients.

I mean in market terms...

If i wanted to choose to buy one it would be virtually impossible as there just is not any around to choose from!

For instance a an early low body qv is like rocking horse ****!

Sorry just frustrated as i will be in the position soon to realise a dream but it sem to be a fading one.

Much like rocking horse **** in that there is no such thing. There are lowbodies, and QVs, but no lowbody QVs.

Keep your eyes peeled - one will turn up. You'll need to keep the cash close to hand as you will almost certainly have to move very quick when one does come on the market. I missed one a while back because I wasn't quick enough to get there but it was a blessing in disguise in some ways as it wasn't my ideal spec (but I'm certain I would have bought it if I'd seen it). I didn't feel like that at the time of course!

If your heart is set on an early Countach then you're in this for the long haul. Be prepared to wait and move like lightning when one does come available.

Thanks for your encouraging words fyfe
It seems as you say it is.
Moving quick is the key here...
What are you budgeting for one if you don't mind
me asking?

I'm not sure the words "budget" and "Countach" really belong in the same sentence unless it also includes the phrase "blow the".

If it's listed POA it's probably not for me and I would have snapped up the red one at Furlonger if I hadn't been quite so busy / complacent. That'll give you a range to work from. My key challenge is not getting distracted by something in the meantime so I am doing my very best to avoid dealerships at the moment.

I heard that thirty Countach have been exported from the UK in recent years, most I believe have gone to RHD countries, I have no facts for this but they are defiantly not around these days

Look to Europe. Plenty there. I got my QV from Holland. Happy with left or right hooker. The import process was not too much of an issue.

I am looking for a good LP500 preferably a QV but nothing available that I know of. I don't want a 500 mile example but one I can use so mileage is not that much of a worry. Would love black with red second choice. Its tough to know where values are due to lack of comparisons, conditions vary too of course.
If you know of anything please do say so.

From what I can recollect, Lamborghini produced one Countach per week in the 1980s, making the total production run of approx 52 cars per year, so over ten years would be 520 shipped worldwide.

Now if you consider that China has over one million millionaires aching to buy up anything remotely exotic or supercarish, then you can see why Countachs are disappearing off the market, and when you add in the pent up demand from owners living in the USA, and right-hand drive models for buyers in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand looking to enjoy driving a Countach, along with the falling value of the GBP pound you can see why Countachs, and for that matter any classic cars located in the UK, are disappearing off the market and being exported to private collections.

It's supply and demand at work, and there are far more millionaires and billionaires hunting for exotic cars than are physically available.

I was at the supercar rooms this week and they had an F40 and F50 that they had previously sold several years ago which were both up for sale at 300k more than the original sale.
As you say, supply and demand.
