Shifting things on a few years how about these two gems? The Cizeta Moroder was if I’m correct the bastard off spring of Diablo. With a transverse mounted V16 sporting either two or four turbo’s as well. I think its rather understated, maybe not!

No turbos. Naturally aspiated V16 based on two Ferrari V8s. Styling done indepently of Lambo but very, very, similar.

No pictures of Porsche Spyders yet.

Great thread.

That is the possibly the most beautiful car I have ever seen. I sat here with my mouth wide open for minutes when I scrolled up to it. Devastatingly, achingly perfect. WOW!

Edit to add the Chrysler Atlantic had two Neon engines welded together to form a straight 8. The Moroder had a V-16 based on two Ferrari(?) V-8's. Transversely mounted IIRC, which is why it is so wide.

What a great catalyst Pistonheads can be, little did I think this morning that I would be researching a Cizeta Morodor for the collective interest, or not as the case may be. It seems the common link is of course Gandini, who else?

In case anybody is even vaguely interested here’s a picture of what a transverse V16 looks like

And now for Topstuff and few others who may remember the bare naked horror that was Fast Lane magazine in the mid eighties, Koenig! Albeit they were German the lack of taste was beyond doubt. They dared to dabble in Body kits and turbo’s in cars that should have been left well alone.

I feel a Sbarro coming on…………………………….

Couldn't agree more - sexiest car I have ever seen!

And get this:

Apparently the car came out in 1967.

Its got a 2 litre V8 that revs to 8,800 rpm and produces 240 bhp.

Its made of aluminium and weights only around 1000 kg.

Awesome technology. That much power in so light a car must mean it is pretty quick.

And I would love to hear that revvy V8 !

What kind of noise must those 4 pipes make ? !!!

Hard to believe it is as old as I am....

After a bit more research, it appears to be ~600kg, with a 6 speed... should go like hell!! too bad they only made 18 of them. Independant double wishbone suspension on each corner, with disc brakes all around, should handle and stop too... very cool!

Oh boys, I think I’ve cracked it! For a mere 62,000 euros you can get yourself into a Sbarro. Basically based on a 928 I think but can you imagine the utter hilarity of turning up to some formal function in one of these babies.

An ‘Imperator’ no less and another from the Fast Lane magazine stud. If my memory serves me correctly they were BMW powered but there again they did indeed catch on fire, a true party piece for any exotica. Or was that one of these.

which was in the paddock at goodwood this summer, the ‘Nazca’

Apparently they used to catch fire really easily if memory serves me correctly - or was that a gullwinged Merc? (not the 300SL but it looked similar to the Isdera?)

Got any pics of the front of the car?

This is the initial car, the b+b CW311, built on the basis of C111 styling in 1979.
The Isdera Imperator is an Eberhard Schulz project from the early eighties, and he has built quite a few examples

Hats off old bean, I’ve been out gunned! That is truly out of the top draw on all fronts. I’m off to bed to read about fishing as clearly I only thought I knew my motors

Did'nt b+b play about with the odd Porsche?

Memories! I am sure there was a 935 type device they made???? I may well be imagining this one though - Bodo / Vario, please prove me wrong!
I remeber a Porsche with 007-style fog-thrower in the rear bumper, and a 'magic top' SEC-Merc (with folding hard top). Most cars were nacre white metallic paint with dark blue alcantara seats and rainbow stripes in the middle B+B also made a quite stylish VW Polo with an interesting bodykit and digital speedometer.
Posting pictures of these would spoil the nice-car flair in this thread

Good point!
links should be allowed though

There's not much on the web about b+b, but here's a small gallery with the Magic Top Merc:
http://groups.msn.com/1980extremetuning/bbautobuchmann.msnw

There's as well an article about the b+b Polo:
www.planetpolo.de/index/artikel/52.htm
(note the Polo dashboard)

I couldn't find anything about the 928 T-Bar and the 930 Variants, but they were definitely built, because I got a lift in one when I was a lad.
