I don't think this, as all series 2 4 litres, is a low body..?

I have many photos of this car (some of which I'll scan and post soon) in various guises, and I'm sure it's the taller version.

Wasn't it owned by Tim Dutton of Dutton Kit Cars..?
BTW why don't we post the cars we rarely saw - I've got quite a lot that appeared once, but never seen again - I'll scan a few.

Yes, car was new to Tim Dutton in brown (there's probably a more flattering description of the colour!), then was registered TOO510W then went to someone else who painted it navy without a wing, then added a wing, then it was yellow.

This was posted somewhere else - please take credit someone if it is yours!

Great Posts

Keep posting and giving details of the changes in the cars!

Mine was always white with white (totally original, read patina) interior! I have photos of it when new with the first owner the late Fred Fraser the house builder from Northern Ireland.

I will dig out some old pics of Silverstone in 93/94 and post them

Yep on reflection I think you are right. It's an 81/82 car which would be towards the end of 4 litre production. Have pictures of it when it was that gold/brown colour too.

And also alongside the photo at Portman Lamborghini in Ealing, here is a photo I took there in 1991. Yellow LP400 in RHD plus RHD 88 Countach (now lives in Malaysia)and another RHD Miura SV (you used to see them quite a lot in those days!). Was never quite sure why that Ferrari 288GTO was at Lamborghini UK's Service Dept.
Robert - seeing the LP400 and Miura parked there, plus I can just see an Anniversary parked in front of the nearest white Countach - I wonder if they were all there being prepared (or put back together!) for the Top Gear feature Jeremy Clarkson did they did when the Diablo was introduced??

There is a 5000S being restored right now and going from red to blue, but it's not that car.
Excuse for more pics...

That'll be this one then. Used to live in a village just up the road from me, saw the car quite a bit - often out on the open road which is always more exciting than at an event. Nice owner too. Here it is at a Grimaldi Open Day in 2008. Sold through Elms Collection I believe a little while ago. Good to see the body being tackled as it was showing its age (and body filler!) a bit.

Car next to it is C701 BYX. Well known car and one I got to drive back in 2007 - thanks IanQV!!!!

i think these look so much better without the rear wing, especially as they don't appear to serve any aerodynamic purpose, and are only on beacause of the Cannonball Run, or so I'm told.
What does everyone else think?
Oh, and this is a great thread with great photos, keep them coming!

IMO they look best without the wings, arches, sill or air scoops.

No It was nothing to do with the film. Walter Wolf of the ex F1 team tweaked a countach and put the new Pirelli P7 tyres on it. he also put a large wing on the back. this was then picked up and many put similar onto theirs until the factory realised they could make a lot of money selling these at £3500 each but fitted by the customer as they didn't meat regs.
They have absolutely no benefit in handling or stability, they are only for show and increase drag and reduce top speed by about 10-15mph. I have only taken mine up to 160mph so I haven't tried to max it out. I have had invites to the Race the Runway events, but couldn't make the dates. I will try though and it would be fun to try with and without. the main problem with these cars is not how fast they go, but how slowly they stop!
Hope this helps.
