Ha, I was just thinking the same. I keep half expecting to pop up in the background of one of your snaps.I'm not surprised the dealers couldn't shift it. Just noticed it is a 5000S, not QV as I thought.
I can't argue with white! My favourite colour on a Countach, especially with red leather. There used to be a young guy, around 23 years old, who owned a white/red Countach. Soon after buying it though he painted it black and had the leather re-trimmed black and also had the wheels polished up. The plate was A6GRD and then later A6GRO. I always thought it was a shame he changed the colour but he was a really nice bloke. Let me sit in it too.
Yep, would be good to dig the old photos out, I must get round to scanning some soon.
The crying shame is about 10 years ago I thought I just had too many photos and decided to have a bit of a sort out, getting rid of loads and keeping my favourites. I guess back then I thought you could have enough photos of Lambos...how wrong I was!

Result! Checked my computer and found some more than I scanned many moons ago.
So..in no particular order.
Mike's Silhouette. Love these cars.

If you think the scrape on the 308GT4 is bad...wait till you see the rear. From memory I think it lost control coming out of the chicane. Note the plate behind the plate!

The low bodies just look incredible don't they, especially compared to later Countaches such as the red one? I never cared for those side skirts I must say.

The word 'epic' doesn't cover it. What is the deal with Mike's car - does he still have it?

A rare yellow late QV if I recall.

This would have been brand spanking new. The red car behind was Joe Sackey's who was there at the event. Only just learnt this from another forum.

Out with the old and in with the...old. Just fabulous. Just think of the value now. This was a Lotus Drivers Club / Lamborghini track day.

These photos are great, good man. More than that they just re-inforce how incredible a design the countach really is. Its not until you compare it to the Capri for example in the background, which was a "modern car" at the time,that you remember what it was like to see them back in the day.
My first encounter was aged 8, Rye Harbour circa 1981. The car was a super early LP400 in gold with dark tan interior and suede dash. I remember it like it was yesterday, I could not move, I was totally paralysed by the design and nothing's changed.

Mike Pullen still has the lowbody and the yellow Silhouette as far as I know. You've just solved a mystery - someone else had told me the white/red car and A6GRD bla/bla were the same car, but I thought it was a mistake. This explains it! Here it is and the guy in question I'd assume. Lousy quality, but best one I could find quickly.

I have never understood the difference between an LP500S and a LP5000S. It may be obvious?Cheers

LAM130 and UBD4 are still around - hang on a sec isn't this a Countach thread? LAM130 is the black one above - here is UBD4 - someone take credit for this photo - I found it on the web and it is fab!!

My own understanding is that LP500S refers to the model and 5000 S to the badges on the rear panel in the same way as P300 is the model and 3000 is the badge.Edited by P300V8 on Monday 2nd December 20:24
Ah I did think that was what you meant but didn't want to assume.
Of course I am no authority but my understanding is that the LP500S and the 5000S is the same model. The LP500S was the factory designation if you like and the 5000S is the badging, and so either is used.
I can't recall LP5000S nomenclature, certainly for the 5 litre cars between 82 and 85 and not that I'm aware for the QV. I think the QV was simply referenced as the 5000QV.
1378KV is niggling me, I feel I have seen it recently but can't think where??
Cheers

Edit: ah P300V8 you beat me to it. Good to see we share the same understanding.

For me the clue is in the brochures LP400 for the LP400
LP500S for the 500S
LP5000QV for the QV
For those interested in ALL the brochures have a look at www.timpelen.com
Over the last few days I've sorted through hundreds (no exaggeration) of Countach photos to find some (well, quite a lot still) that may be of interest on here.
To start with, the only other photo that I've not already posted earlier in this thread of 5555DP, at the back of Portmans in April 1989;
![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/xzc3P4un.jpg)
And the only other one I have of F920OYR, Castle Coombe September 1989;
![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/6gxNSyHU.jpg)
Also in September 1989 at Castle Coombe was this 5000S, in a rather unusual colour, kind of beige with caramel interior;
![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/ZunYuX9q.jpg)
![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/rtO5Gxxg.jpg)
I spoke to the owner, who let me sit in the car, which as a 14 year old was very exciting, and he told me he'd painted his garage door this colour. He then took the Dulux colour chart to someone or other who matched it and painted his Countach to match! I distinctly remember that it had a for sale sign in it at £135,000, just before the market crashed in that recession!
I have plenty more that I'll trickle on here as I get time to scan and post...

I have many photos of this car (some of which I'll scan and post soon) in various guises, and I'm sure it's the taller version.
Wasn't it owned by Tim Dutton of Dutton Kit Cars..?
