Had it yesterday

Took my car to work yesterday probably for the last time, before it gets garaged for winter

In the morning outside having a crafty fag young lad comes up chatting about the car nice kid genuinely interested in cars, all good opened it up and let him look around, Love that

3 hours later a staff member shouted Someone's sat on your car, looked on cameras and a different young lad is posing and sitting on the car taking a video banghead I wasn't best pleased tbh

Not leaning on, sitting in!

If I go to a car show I have no problem letting people sit in my car if they ask and it’s normally youngsters so I’m happy to oblige. I’ve wandered off before to get a coffee and come back to find a random actually sitting in it. Twice, both times adults. They saw people gettting in and assumed it was free access. Obviously I now lock it religiously.

I had my car at Eastbourne Airborne one year. Standing behind it when some youth barges past me and sits in my car dropping his fag ash all about.

Not my car, but a few year ago the Yorkshire branch of the Ferrari Owners' Club were doing a thing to promote James Martin's restaurant in Leeds. One of the cars displayed was a new 458 Italia and a man came along and had his (I presume) daughter of about 10 drape herself on the bonnet whilst he took a photo.

Another time, at an event and one of the guys (who is on this forum) left his Ferrari 348 Spider locked but with the roof down and came back to find someone sitting in it, obviously having climbed over the side of the car to get in!

I've been to many car events over the years and the vast majority of people appreciate the cars on display and treat them with respect. A small minority do not.

I used to let pretty much anybody sit in my car at events - until one woman let her kid get into the car on one side, and he then ran across my seats to the other side. With the comment from the mother "Oh, he does that on the sofa at home too".

Now, I am much more selective. Parents do seem to be split into two types : One is quite happy to bump into the car with their pram, let their kids have hands all over the car etc. etc.
The other kind are the "DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!! DO NOT BREATHE ON IT!!!!! DO NOT GET CLOSE TO IT!!!! IF I SEE YOU LOOK AT IT THE WRONG WAY, YOU WILL BE GROUNDED FOREVER!!!!!". Their kids get to sit in my car.

To answer the OP, I've never caught anybody leaning on the car for photos etc, but have absolutely no doubt it's happened multiple times.

Just wondering how you lock it religiously?
,
a few "Hail mary's" as you press the button? Kneel towards Mecca?, a bit of "Om Mani Padme Hum", maybe draw a pentagon and place a goats head in it?

The latter. If you use 2 goat heads placed strategically either side of the car then it has the desired effect. The one I placed on the dash also worked but the aircon hasn’t smelt the same since so I don’t use that approach any more.

I used to get people asking if their kids could sit in the Maserati for a photo. I usually said 'OK' and often let them press the starter too.

However many years ago I was waiting for a friend outside a chippy and this girl just got in and gave me her address.

I was a bit stunned for a moment, but she was in the back and a guess a diesel Cavalier with zebra seat covers was an easy mistake to make. I waited for my mate then we drove her home. I think he went out with her for about a year.

I saw a lady in Chelsea casually step in to the back of a black FF Range Rover. The driver looked rather startled and politely informed her that his car was not a taxi!

I had this too. I was about to leave a car show in my Lambo, opened the door to let the air circulate (it was a hot day) and walked off for a couple of minutes. On my return a portly middle aged bloke was sitting in it! That I didn't expect.....
