Aventador hill starts etc
Discussion
A couple of questions for our Aventador experts please.
Can someone please tell me what is the authorised procedure for a hill start in an Aventador? In Aston Martins with an automated manual box you have a traditional handbrake and it is easy to allow the handbrake to take the weight of the car (as you would in a three pedal manual) and to release the handbrake as the clutch engages as you take up drive to avoid holding the car on a semi-engaged clutch. Can you effectively do this with the electric parking brake on the Aventador or is there some other procedure?
In the Astons, sitting stationary in 1st with the footbrake pressed is equivalent to sitting in a three pedal car with first engaged but the clutch pedal fully depressed. That means for short stops - for example, at a typical two phase traffic light or allowing a pedestrian to cross, you would keep the car in first with the footbrake depressed but for a longer stop, where in a manual car you would slot into neutral, you similarly put the Aston into neutral. Is it similar in Aventador? I have heard people say the Aventador needs to put in neutral whenever stationary as if first is engaged the clutch will always be at least partially engaged and will be fighting against the footbrake (which sounds odd). Can someone confirm this?
Many thanks!
