Afternoon all.

Looking to get out of the 720 and into a Murcielago.

I have seen the advert for the one at GVE but this dealer leaves me cold. Had a poor experience once when looking at a 720 with them and seeing other's comments about them really cringe at having to use them again. However, kind of taken by the car.

Does anyone know it or anything about its history.?

Would GVE be up for having a decent inspection from someone like Dave at Pangbourne?

Cheers.

Isn't the answer to that question in a phone call rather than on PH?

Can't comment on the car but the dealer weren't great when I was trying to trade in and buy from them a few yrs back...went elsewhere.

You would think so. Answer I got from the call I put in yesterday was 'I will need to speak to the Sales Manager'.... had no return call so taking it as a no. Just wondered if anyone else had used the services of an external inspection at this dealership.

Surely there's enough doubt to walk? If the they can't be arsed to ring you back to answer a straightforward question, imagine what they'll be like if you have an issue.
Either way it's likely a SOR car, so it might be worth having a look on the owners clubs/FB pages in case the owner is about?

I believe if you Google GVE, there may be a few articles regarding their customer service. When engaging a supplier on such a high end vehicle, I always do my due diligence regarding who is selling it.

Dave looks after my Murcie and did a report for me on an LM002.
If they won’t let you trailer the car to him, walk.

Would be a shame to walk away from a decent car based on the salesman but it is more than likely what I'll do. Trying to find the owner hence the post on here. Have requested to joining LOUK so that's my next step.

When it goes wrong with them, it goes VERY VERY wrong.

Personally even if it's the perfect car I would not step into their premises.

All I can say is pencil in £15k-25k for servicing year one , if the valves haven't been done they will need to be, as they should be done every 15,000 miles my guess is they won't have been, as that is often skipped due to the cost. I'd second the inspection by Dave at Pangborne he should be able to give you a long list of stuff that's incoming so thats where I suggest you start. Make it a condition of sale don't accept its yeah its just been serviced mate no worries ... No! no inspection = no sale . Great cars when they are taken care of .Good Luck!!!

Good advice. I bought my LP640 brand new in 2009 and sold it after 5 years and 21,500 miles. Money no object maintenance and it never put a foot wrong.

I regretted selling it and bought it back with just 26,500 miles at the beginning of 2020. On the surface, it seemed fine and that specific car had meaning to me so I didn’t get an inspection. It transpires that it hadn’t been looked after and I have indeed spent the top end of the above estimate on getting it right.

It is now running as good as it ever did but at a hefty price.

I would offer a suggestion of an independent who could help with an inspection but every time I comment on a dealer either positive or negative, PH deletes my post! The name and shame rules seem to get more Draconian as every year passes. If you’re interested, feel free to PM me.

As has been said, they are very, very special cars when they are right but bills can get enormous very quickly if they’re not.
