Just had a call from my Mother to ask if I was at the Pistonheads Rally at the Rock and Fountain pub in Penhow this morning.

First I'd heard of it, and not seen anything on here mentioning it either so I enquired further.

It seems that The Rock & Fountain have advertised in the Langstone and Penhow Community Times to drum up some business.

The ad read something like :

Sunday 6th February. 'Piston Head Rally' at The Rock and Fountain, Penhow. £10 per person.
Come and see the Bowler Wildcat and bring your own classic or interesting vehicle.
Meet for breakfast at 9am followed by a tour of Monmouthshire then back to the pub for lunch.

A bit naughty really as it seems as though there was no connection to PH or anyone here in the first place.

Anyone know anything about it ?

No it as nothing to do with the website. I was at the run today and thought it would be something to do with ph one of the guys asked and it was a name he named it or something anyway the guy who runs it owns the pub and a £245 million business and works at bowler and drives the bowler nemiss prototype road going car. Anyway next meet is on the first weekend of every month by the way good day out to.

Still not good form using PH name to publicise and make money though really.
I'm sure Haymarket would feel the same.

not totally different, but quite different (two words, no 's'). Passing off would be quite difficult to make stick methinks

When written it is clearly different, but not when said verbally.

If I was told there was a piston heads rally going on, I would assume that it was to do with PH. It also seems a little odd that it was not mentioned it on here to raise attendance levels, or maybe I am being paranoid and should get my tin foil hat out smile

I also had this flyer through my door and thought 'hello what's going on here then'. I searched in events and S Wales forum but found nothing.

Piston and heads were two different words, but I thought it was strange as well. In the context of the flyer I would have thought 'petrol heads' would have been more correct.

Had the flyer through the door as well, though it did come a day late so rather missed the action.

I live just around the corner & this is the first I've heard about it. Explains why I saw a Lambo & a Fezza on the A48 in Langstone heading towards Newport about 14:30 on Sunday

I cant see a problem in the term Piston Head as it originates from Petrol Head and a number of people I know have been refered to both in the context of 'someone who enjoys petrol driven motor vehicles'. Those who do not use this website may be familiar in its term to describe someone as above.
Now if they used the crossed piston smiley image in the advertisement without it being an official organised PH meet then thats a different matter.
