You must be living under a rock. Everyone knows the way to search is to use Google, enter whatever it is you're looking for and add 'Pistonheads' at the end.

You use the Google search box under the 'normal' search box, or go to Google and type "item here site:www.pistonheads.com/gassing"

It's back up and running now, but as others have said, the alternative Google based forum search does tend to work better anyway.
