Its the Trivial Hundreds Of Messages filter (THOM filter for short) at work. Rumoured to save Gb of bandwidth and prevent the rest of us getting slow responses

Could you describe the sequence you're going through to get that message please.

I get that message quite alot too Ted, usually just after I've logged in! I have to close the window that PH is open in for it to be OK!!

I find if I've have a session open for 10 minutes or so in the background (as I tend to have PH open all day )without doing anything, that if I re-load/refresh the "last 24hrs" or a current thread etc. it just hangs until I get a "page not found"

Then if I shut my browser and re-launch PH, I get the homepage, but the same symptoms on trying to launch the Gassing station, Shop, etc etc..

Normally I get a coffee or something and try again later, it seems to sort itself out in about 5-10 mins..

Cheers
Matt.

Trivial Hundreds Of Messages

I'd like some examples please, each time I get criticised for "bloody pointless messages" noone bothers indicating which of my messages bored them.
I'd be glad of being notified whenever I ps people off (gentle messages such as "fk of you by ase" very welcome indeed).
That would be very kind from everybody and would certainly make things clearer...

It's ok with you Greg and many others PH but it's quite frustrating to read such messages from PH you never ever read from

Thom,

The trivial messages refered to would be messages with no other content than a smiley etc, particularly where a large section is quoted too. i.e. low on additional content.

Greg, don't joke with this. It's stupid to use memory for useless messages and boring for other readers.

Ted,

In all seriousness, could it be those who are accessing PH via a proxy server?

It might be caching the (outdated) asp and causing this sort of error when it attempts to update.

Just a thought, but I see a pattern here:

Thom (student - presmuably at Uni)
Tvradict (ditto)
M@H (office based ?)

Ted, sorry old man but the last proxy I built was about 2 years ago, sorry I can't be more help

Nice thought Greg, but I get the error from home too! And I have found a way around the college Proxy! I beleive the Windows expression is "Administrator Rights"!

I do get it a college too though! I always put it down to Internet Explorer having a hernia what with all of Teds ASP's and adverts and.....

Haven't really taken the time to have a proper look though!!

I think I know what it is. It's nothing as complex as that, just a bug.
