Why did you lock the Barichello steering wheel thread? It was about a specific race incident that didn't warrant getting swallowed up with the main GP thread. Why indeed, are we only allowed one F1 thread anyway? Surely if the same rule was applied to the news & politics forum you'd be locking all the election threads and just allowing people to post in one.

I did think the same as you, that it was partly about the race but about the rules too.

Where as in the actual GP thread it's lost.

Perhaps it's to do with spoilers.

Overly cautious though imo.

Primarily locked as all others are on race day, as we normally have one thread running that is the "Official" thread and is also flagged with the word "SPOILER". It would be only a matter of time before a member posts something up that could spoil the race for others if read. With the number of "incidents" that goes on in any GP the general rule is to keep them all under one banner the official thread.

You'll also notice in any forum on the PH that duplicate/spin off threads are normally also closed by routine.
