Thread views

I've seen on most other fora there is a statistic for 'views' alongside 'posts'. Would this be possible?

Reason I ask is that I'm sure most of us think we are cocooned in our little PH world - but as this is a very popular website I think we would be staggered by the number of views a thread gets.

Would this be possible? Apologies if it's been discussed before, but search seems to be down, quel surprise

The main problem is we get so many views that our current database system would be unable to keep up.

We are planning to switch to a new database system at some point in the future which will remove this bottleneck and should allow us to add more database intensive features such as a view count.
