Add a 'go to XX page' button to forum pages

Can a 'go to (number) page' button be added to forum pages?

With some of the forum sections now getting to hundreds of pages long a 'skip to' button would be a really useful addition. Last night I was looking through readers cars and got to page 90 and now to get back to where I was will take 90 clicks of the 'next page' button.

A skip to page button would be really useful. Should be fairly easy to add, just a bit of extra coding, well that's what the web techies said at work!!

Am confused, none of my pages look like that.

For example, go to 'Readers Cars'.

Nothing looks like that, just says page 1 of 146.

So how do I get to page 90? Press 'next' 90 times? Only way that works at the mo and is pretty annoying.

That option is only available within a thread, not in the forum page.

Ah I see that now.

Be useful to add it to the section page, as the coding is already done surely it's only a little tweak.

With a section like Readers cars, which doesn't really date, it would be handy to select a page to go to. Annoying to press NEXT 90 plus times.

Just a thought, but with some sections getting to a stage where there are hundreds of pages it would be good to be able to jump back a bit. Otherwise you may as well just delete all the old pages as I bet hardly anyone bothers clicking NEXT over 100 times to get back to where they were!

Shame really as there are great posts hidden away and as the site gets more popular it'll only happen on more forum sections as new posts increase.

It would be a useful feature to have, so I will add it to the "to-do" list if it isn't already there.

In the mean time it is possible to manually jump forward a certain number of pages by editing the url.

As soon as you move off the first page of a forum you will see &i=20 appear near the end of the url. If you replace the 20 with another number then it will skip forwards to the corresponding page, 20 being page 2, 40 being page 3, 60 page 4 and so on (page 90 is 1780)

Many thanks for adding it to the 'to do' list, will be a useful feature on a site that is getting bigger daily!

In my memory this question was asked ages ago . . .

But I've noticed this is an ommission at most forums.
