I know the Search function is bein worked on and, no doubt this has been suggested already, but I was wondering if in the interim the Search page couldn't be adapted/redirected to Google with the "site:www.pistonheads.com" switch?

Most people know to search, and state that they already have done but couldn't find anything.

My gripe is less to do with "annoying" reposts and more that genuinely helpful info will get overlooked from a "negative" search.

Most search google as well first. PH is a second option. Also to do this option it will most likely cost PH money resulting in even more adverts slowing the site down even more.

I disagree with the first part (well certainly when people say "I've searched already", as I find what they're asking for straight away on google...few people know about the google switches)

The second part I don't follow at all...all it requires is a text statement on the Search page saying "Go to google, type what you're looking for followed by site:www.pistonheads.com"...doesn't cost a dime or involve adverts?!

I think the option is to provide both... I will look into this, with maybe a drop down or separate box for Google as this is a multi-billion company with much more resource to index our pages than us

Apols to sherman, re-reading my original post it does look like I'm saying "just go with google". You're right RP, I actually meant have both options on the Search page just while (or perhaps instead of, you're now saying?) the PH one is being upgraded.
