Science Forum?

Would there be enough interest to create a dedicated Science forum on PH? - it could encompass Physics, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Space & General Issues.

I for one would welcome something along those lines

We will discuss this in the next management meeting and see if we think there are enough posts across the site and it doesn't overlap with existing forums to be a viable new forum... watch this space!

Will space stuff go into science or planes trains and boats? I think it needs to be combined with the aeroplanes and boats forum to create a new larger more general forum.

It will be a bit of a catch all forum but so much aerospace stuff fits into different areas.

"Aerospace Science and any other non car transport (except bikes and bicycles)" anyone?

Either way, space and science stuff ends up in news or planes and trains etc. It's not really working at the moment.

I'm not sure opening up yet another forum is the answer. It is true that "space" topics have ended up appearing in all sorts of places but I think a tweak of the planes/trains etc forum could allow space related topics ro fit more comfortable.

One attempted alternative forum was "Engineering" but that attracted all sorts of disparate questions on engineering careers and bridges.

Before the major shake-up of PH a few months ago, I would have been a big supporter of a "Science and Technology Forum". Unforttunately, I just think that there are too many fora now and yet another new one would just become another quiet backwater like so many have already.

Not withstanding your popularity, 3,000+ posts & elevated position within the PH continueum, I dare to disagree Sir - having personally witnessed the recent uprise in feline popularity I'd go one step further & request a seperate forum for cats or at least pet owners!

There will undoubtably be folk out there who would contrubute to a science biast forum, that otherwise don't contribute much anywhere else at all........for instance, I very much doubt that you contribute anything at all towards 90% of the currently available forums, just those in your favourites list.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience but you'll just simply have to add 'Science' to your list of favourites or not, as the case may be

We'll just have to agree to differ on this.

As for my exalted position - that is something I have not assumed for myself. If others want to put me on a pedestal - all well and good. But I consider myself no more more than a "normal" humble PHer at heart.

Just an idea, but how about a science and engineering forum.

Then can incorporate all science/engineering/planes/boats and space in one place.
