Oddly enough, most regular forum users actually ignore stickies except when they first appear and this effect becomes even more exaggerated if there are a lot of stickies at the top of a forum.

For this reason I'd suggest that it is best to let the thread run as normal for a while and then look again at stickying it once it has slowed down and dropped off the first couple of pages.

Does that sound okay?
