Why do people use signatures on EVERY message?

There are certain people who find that they need to add their name or profile name on every single post, why? What's the point?

I don't know why they do it, but just be thankful that we don't let them do it automatically which helps keep their numbers down.

Not sure what else we can do about it though? If people want to type it in every time then we can't really stop them.

Indeed, be glad that there's no automated facility to embed pictures in your signatures, or upload avatars etc. etc. That would make the PH forums awful. At the moment, they're pretty near perfect!

If people put their companies in their signatures, then we ask them not to, but other than that I can't see it's a real biggy?

I've just been reading a topic were one of the contributors puts a 2-line signature at the foot of every single post he makes, and it is very very very annoying after a while.

On a fairly busy forum I go on where there is signature's and avatars, it sometimes takes ages to load up, especially if a number of people have gif's in there too.
