what are you on about?

Well I have just put & round the above and it didn't do it and when I have just come back in to edit it they have dissappeared altogether. Exactly the same as what I have done for months but for some reason today is NOT working.

To make type bold, you put the letter b in square brackets, and /b in square brackets to stop bold type.

Well go into your previous post in edit and see what code it has put in.... it has used

it won't even let me type in the arrows now ... really I think I may have to shut down my computer and start again

Maybe the keys on your keyboard are broken?

Damn, you're right. Ted's filtering them to prevent illegal HTML use.

Damn you Bodo with your yellow background!

The {a href=" "} {/a}

Text link

bits used for making a word into a link aren't working either for me, had to post the full URL link instead.

Edited because the brackets didn't appear??????

Used { instead

Come to think of it, FWD isn't exactly blameless either . Now I have to learn the proper formatting codes for pictures and hyperlinks, I've always used HTML.

Ted - little problem there.

Any real HTML gets stripped out on posting, but any square bracket markup gets converted to HTML markup if you do an edit - which then gets stripped out.

e.g. post with a [ b ]Hello[ /b ]. Then edit the post, the [ ] have become , and then update loses the markup altogether...

They should work though, I've only ever used the pic posting and link making HTML to make things cleaner.

Maybe it's been done to clean things up and match up with the "formatting codes" section on the posting window.

Or actually to stop the yellow background stuff, which I thought was a Ted thing. But I guess it wasn't. Didn't know you could do that so I guess it was a backdoor that needed to be closed.

Edited to add the PIC in brackets is still the same for pics and hyperlinks just have to be the full URL typed in without HTML around it I guess.

That also means you can't make posts with marquee scrolling in them.

I've been trying to use what you seem to have used without a problem I have also typed this with the codes o nit to make it big and bold, lets see if it works?

>> Edited by mrs fish (moderator) on Tuesday 19th August 14:57

Sorry I edited you instead of quoting you, but doing so seems to have ed up your codes although the [ ] for the pic still seems to work
