Ted,

Are the two things using the same code? I keep clicking on threads that have a red folder icon only to find that there are no new posts in it since I last visited.

Moon, stick, I know.

Mmm... think I need to review how the cookie tracking works as it's a bit confusing with some bits still relying on the old methods.

One problem with the cookie thing is that I read Pistonheads from both work and home... Is doing something server-based really hard? 1000 users * 200 threads * 30% browse rate is only 60000 rows in a table

Same here, but I could be using any one of three PC's at home - four if I count the iPaq (I browse using wireless networking sometimes).

Server based would be nice I guess, but Ted could do with some sleep! (And he's probably using an Orrible database so he'd need a £500,000 Unix server to store an extra 60000 records!! Allegedly. www.picksupport.com/the_best_kept_secret.htm)

But just in case you are a total insomniac Ted, now we have thread based tracking of whatever kind, and it works, hows about entering the thread at that point by default! Are we lazy or what!!!!

Yep, I was aware of the multiple PC issue.

1) I can't afford the disk space!
2) I need to rethink the thread tracking so that it's a more complete solution
3) I needed some sleep
4) Reluctant to take you straight to a post because I need you to see (and click and buy from) the adverts!

Because I'm still in business so someone must be responding to them. I can understand the reason for using ad blockers as some sites are getting very annoying now (autoexpress for example). Trouble is it's the only way I've got of funding this site. Unless people respond to the ads, I'll have to innovate to make them more annoying!

I've sorted this on the What's New page.
