Was just about to post about this Mikey.
There seem to be a lot of naughty newbies. We should have some sort of initiation where we strap them down and set Carzee loose on them to find out why they are really here - cars or fighting?

Ive read his posts on the one Dick mentioned i pointed out the age to you all and left the thread,if everydody had read the post and checked his profile you would have seen it as a wind up.
You will also note i never returned to the thread,if you dont feed the trolls they tend to go away or settle down

Well i've just finished reading every one of y & r posts and agreed he's made some poor remarks about you car.
People take the pi55 out of my company car and a lot out of other PH cars, all the time so what
If abuse was being directed at me or another PH thats different
I see no reason to ban somebody for what hes done so far a quiet word in his shell like possibly.
But i have to ask myself this question why after starting this thread do you still respond to his posts

i don't have so much of a problem with what he's up to, just the manner in which he does it.
This site, although relatively new to me (3 months and 600-odd posts) is obviously something special and the recent (last 3 weeks?) influx of stirrers, has done nothing more than p155 me off. and i don't think i'm alone.
you are a poster of wit and humour (i don't mean to patronise) and i appreciate your posts, but there are very obviously some flies in the ointment.

Just stop and read what you've posted. Someone has taken the piss of something you love. What did you do at school? Cry and tell the teacher? - or tell them to **** off, and walk away, knowing you were the bigger man?
Big deal. Who cares? YOU love your car, what does it matter if no one else does?

Now, as an aside, I'd rather not see such things on PH, and although I am often dancing along the lines of taste and decency with many of my posts, this entire tit-for-tat rubbish of late is actually leading me to refrain from posting, since I can't be bothered with the childish nature of what seems to go on here these days.
That to me is a great shame. I've had some great laughs, and met some great people courtesy of PH... but when the whole thing degenerates into a slanging match, what's the point?

Could it be PH's popularity is going to be it's downfall? i.e the more well known it becomes the more arses of society see it as a target, driving the decent and informative people away? Which is the big attraction for me!
Scum attracts scum and decent people don't want to be asscoiated with that! That's exactly what happened in my last job and it ran the business into the ground.
Same things happen in the music business. You get a popular boy band that churns out shite music, but the kids buy the records just for the sake of it and because of the music. Meanwhile bands like Coldplay who write some amazing stuff never get to no. 1 simply because the dumbed down part of the UK can't accept this.

It's an interesting dilemma which I'm dwelling on. How does one discourage the oiks other than with a big stick and banning them? Really it's then just down to a means of making registering for posting more difficult so that people can't be bothered to set up a new alias if I kick off their existing one.

I've just posted in General Gassing that you should charge, and use the money for more PisonFests and meets etc. That'll cut out the trolling.
We used to get lots of interesting chat and tales - people like McNab and the other more senior members. This seems very thin on the ground nowadays, and has been replaced with inane drivel and sniping. It seems to me that this is beginning to drive the more respected people away which is a dreadful pity. A few months ago there was not a day went by where more was learned from these members and the opportunities to contribute to meaningful intelligent discussion were abundant. Sadly anything, as it grows, suffers change, and its' course is governed by the majority. When I first came to PH I was probably controversial and attracted some criticism, but it pales to insignificance compared to some recent events. Perhaps it is simply that I am too old to deal with posts that start "k....", or despite competing with a racing car would nearly be beyond the threshold to get into an Elise, or am simply resistant to change. I am not quite sure what is happening, but things are certainly moving from the pleasant comfort zone they once occupied - or is it just me ??? I feel that the plot requires rescuing before it is lost.
Edited to say - I was typing this before Ted's comment, so it seems slightly outdated now, but it took so long I am leaving it here. Good move Ted - unless I am one of the ones on the way out !

It's something that has crossed my mind. It is the ultimate control on getting adults involved and having sanction over whether to partake in discussions.
My fear is that it would discourage newbies from contributing or getting the benefit of an occasional request for advice.
The concept of a paid for membership which would entitle people to a number of benefits has been kicking around for some time. If I was to implement that and get a good take up rate then it may signal the time was right to make Gassing subscrption only (for posting).
