Ted

My ad blocker is Proxomitron and I know you cannot in a public forum give advice on how to circumvent the ads that provide you with a living.

So my query is this: what could my ad blocker be doing that stops the dynamic menus at the top of the page from operating? Nothing I'm doing seems to affect Javascript, but according to my logs, coolmenu.js contains the menu code.

Hope you can help.

Cheers

Ad blockers often work on URLs or keywords. So anything with 'advert' or 'ads' or 'banner' in it can fall foul of them. That's why some people can't see the classified section on PH because it's at ..heads.com/ads etc. (I will move it soon).

Does it give any further info in the log?

I'm really not bothered about the ads on PH (apart from pop-ups!) since they're targeted and I might be interested, so I specifically don't block ads on PH; it's the egregious ads on more general sites that p*ss me off.

The problem is the dynamic menu (My Info, What's New etc) which refuses to appear. Proxomitron allows you to suppress JS errors, kill JS altogether, and stuff like that: all of this is deactivated yet I still don't see the menus unless I disable Proxomitron entirely. What I want to get to is a situation where PH works for me as it's supposed to do including the menus but (he said quietly ) not pop-ups...

What the log suggests is that there's some form of frame jumper-outer working. Whether it's connected with the menus I don't know and, not being a Web programmer, I'm at the edge of my knowledge of how this kind of Web stuff works.

Does this help?

Tell you what -- poking about and completely reloading the browser seems to have fixed the problem. If it recurs, I'll let you know..

Cheers!
