...sends the story to a mate's email address?

I've wondered about this one. Do people remember other people's email addresses? I rely on the address book in my email client for that. Perhaps I should invoke the email client with the link...?

You could have a box for the PHer to put their name and email in and another to put their recipient + their email

You can obviously fill in this from the members profiles too.

On a purely selfish view it would be better if the link opened my email client.

I always just cut and paste the URL of the story inot an outloook email if I send it on...

Given that they are widely accepted to have spent the most by far and created on of teh most effective online presences possible how about looking at what the beeb do...
