Access, and ISPs

On friday, about lunchtimeish, i started to not be able to get to PH on my ADSL. Can't get any pages up (loads IP from the DNS though), can't even ping.

Ho hum, i thought, must be having a wonky moment. So saturday passes, sunday passes. I then dial my modem connectionm and lo, there's PH in all its glory.

The ADSL connection is Pipex if that makes any odds. I've emailed them, so they should get back to me in a few months.

Hmmm, just rebooted the router, and all is fine. How very bizarre. Sanity restored (three days without PH, THREE DAYS!!!)

My router/Firewall does a similiar thing. If you use the phone, when you hang up the adsl connection dies. The router then tries to redial the connection 10 times then gives up, buggy software. Just need to reboot it and it comes up fine, on the other hand Pipex may have been having a nightmare!!!

Try a different microfilter on the line, could be the problem.

I think mine just shows that you shouldn't buy cheap routers.
