Ted

I can't even get that far. I've clicked the link to confirm my email address 3 times in the last 3 days. Each time I get the message that an email has been sent to "*******@******.com" but I have not yet received one.

Is it me....?

Ted, I had to Verify my e-mail address on Thursday or Friday. But you've been sending newsletters to it for months! What the hell is going on there then?

Denny,

Do you read your mail within a web browser or in a mail client such as Lycos?

Cheers,
Ted

No, no need (you're verified now anyway), I was just trying to work out what it was that caused you the problem (I need to fix it as it's happening to other people too).

Ok, here's one for you webheads.

When I send a mail to Lycos which contains the URL www.pistonheads.com it changes the link to www.pistonVOIDs.com. I presume it's some sort of protection against their web pages being compromised.

It doesn't look very good to send someone the IP address of the site or a different URL. Any ideas?

I just had my emaila ddress verified too but I've been sending emails from here for ages. Nothing's changed at my end (I use Outlook). Odd...

It's tied up with verifying memberships as being genuine rather than being directly related to the newsletters.

Doesn't the link that we click just say "Click Here" - i.e. the user doesn't see the actual URL the link is going to, thus you could use the IP address without it being obvious??

Alternatively might it be possible to "register" yourself with Lycos somehow so this doesn't happen? Can't understand why they do it, to be honest.

I've worked out a solution. Most people accept HTML emails so I'll hide the IP address within that. Daft bit of meddling by Lycos though.
