Whilst looking through here, I was calling across to my wife about going to Waitrose for some items (a monthly trip for the things we can’t get elsewhere). Next thing, a Waitrose advert pops up in Pistonheads banner slot. Not the first time I have had this happen.

This is why I run adblockers on every device, including PiHole on my home network to further stop adverts.

I recently turned off all my adblockers as I was curious how websites looked, bloody hell! I understand companies need to make a profile to run their web servers, staff etc, but adverts are so intrusive that I block every single one possible.

Why would you think that's relevant to the site you're browsing? It's your ad-serving content, entirely separate from the actual sites you browse.

I can’t recall it happening on other sites.

So, to be clear, you think that Pistonheads is listening to your conversations?

It's not listening - it's just you are predictable to the algorithm "Monthly trip" it knows what you buy and when you buy it etc

Your mic on your phone is constantly listening and the GPS is tracking where you are. If you go in a specific shop, let’s say Ikea for example, you will get Ikea adverts. If you mention you are tired out and need a holiday you will get British Airways adverts. This has always happened to my wife and I. Instagram is the worst for this.

When it is near Christmas time I suggest you make the most of it by standing by your wife’s phone when she is not there and say “Rolex, Rolex, Rolex, Porsche, Porsche, Porsche, TaylorMade, TaylorMade, TaylorMade” , etc.

Waitrose don't sell tin foil, only aluminium.

I was talking about buying some garden furniture to Mrs WR (With Alexa off in the room) and the next day my laptop was full of garden furniture adverts.

It's Ben. He's eaves dropping just outside your house and is trying to hint that he prefers Waitrose biscuits at the next Sunday Service. wink

damn google always dobs me in to the missus... watching things on youtube and all of a sudden adverts for eurocarparts and carparts4less start popping up. 'You better not be spending more money on your cars again!'

Google is such a grass

Took a picture of a TV for my MIL in Currys a few months ago and received adds within a few days for the exact same model, I thought I was going crazy.
