Phone numbers in adverts

Bit of an odd one - I have my car up for sale at the moment and I’ve had a few calls but they always say ‘no caller ID’. The person then leaves a message asking me to call them back but obviously I can’t because I haven’t got their number.

The messages sound genuine enough, but I wondered if the adverts on PH do something funky like hiding your number if you click ‘call’ from the advert on a device. Has anyone else had this?

Assuming it's a private listing, we don't mask numbers so it must be the person withholding their number when calling you.

I have a cousin who withholds their number. As they are the only person who withholds their number, I know exactly who called!

My partner sometimes sets her phone to withhold her number for a few calls then forgets to set it back until i point it out a few days later. So they might just be forgetful or incompetent rather than malicious.

Thanks for confirming. I guess the messages I’ve had (three so far) they must have forgotten they had caller ID off.

I agree, but in this case it’s the fact someone is leaving a message saying ‘please call me back’ but I’m unable to because they have withheld their caller ID and not left a name or number in the message. Hence why I wondered if it was a PH feature of adverts and the callers hadn’t realised.
