So early this week I had someone contact me in regards to one of the cars I have for sale.

he sent me this link..

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp=57799...

I would not reccomend anyone clicking it because it just redirected me into pistonheads log in page.

could anyone please advise further as he claims its a forum against myself

All it appears is that the link is broken. nothing suspicious as far as I can see.

The link's been edited, badly. The parameters passed as part of the link have been mullered, so the link simply can't work as it is.

If it's a link to a specific thread, then it should be along the lines of...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=thr...
If to a specific post within a thread...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?r=pos...

But "57799t4830" makes no sense for either - even removing the t from the middle, it doesn't make sense, nor does splitting it. This thread is 1710492, your original post in the thread is 36886011.

Whatever it's meant to link to, he's cocked it right up.

BUT WHEN I FIRST CLICKED THE LINK. IT ALLOWED ME TO LOG IN TO MY PISTON HEADS ACCOUNT AND TAKING ME INTO THE FORUM ARCHIVE.

BUT AS IT STANDS EVERY TIME I CLICKED IT.

IT REDIRECTED ME TO AN AMAZON LINK ??

''Amazon security co uk thank you confirmed''

If it took you to Amazon, then that's not the link. It may have looked like that, but the actual link was behind that text. Standard in phishing emails.

Isn't this simple HTML? For example, the link below will take you to the BBC but reads as a Google link instead.
www.googIe.co.uk

For those with text-to-url you may notice that the l is an I.

Hi - we have quite a lot of these emails come through to members, they're phishing emails and are to be ignored. We're still not sure what they get out of them (as far as we can tell, nothing), so it's nothing to be worried about.

As said above, the link is completely wrong!

Cheers
