Well, explain yourselves?

We lost pages of threads. No reason given, no broader advice as to what is or is not acceptable.

A web forum is pointless for the users without freedom of speech.

There's no freedom of speech on a private website.

You could also perhaps consider not being so rude.

The thread became about race, not the race.

Although I did not see any racism apart from the "world banana champion" thing (now removed)

They can't possibly justify the things they removed, many of which were very easily inside the posting rules. Someone either fked up or took something personally, either way it was an unprofessional shambles and they should be ashamed.

i'm just posting to say that i had my post which said:

'i thought this was the race thread'

removed and I've now been denied access.

Now, I thought this was sort of funny, and I'm pretty sure that it wasn't derogatory, racist, or anything like that.

I also received an email to say why my post was removed. the email said:

'your post has been removed for the following reason: do you really need a reason!' (notice the incorrect punctuation).

Well, it would be nice, given that what I posted was (in my view) so inoffensive...

Terrible moderating. The individual responsible needs their powers docked for ruining the discussion of what is now a piece of British motorsport history.

oh i see, you guys thought banana was racist. fk. you are right, it could totally be interpreted like that. that wasn't my intent. I just thought given the thread was so messed up it'd be funny to write a celebratory 4x world champion a post at a time. and then since random posts were appearing in between mine the idea that people could insert words in between those ones occurred to me. and then banana was the first random word i thought of. wow. apologies.

PS if you read back through the thread you'll see i'm not anti-hamilton, you'll just have to take my word for it that i'm a) not racist and b) sorry.

it would be great if i could contribute to the thread again please, i have much to say about the race. (err, sorry, grand prix).

Amazing how the Nazi mod appears to have disappeared now, shame they don’t have the balls to actually state why so many comments have been deleted for no reason.

Do you consider "World Banana Champion" an appropriate thing to write on a public forum about a black sports star, especially considering it's connotations with racism against black sports stars in the past?

Because that is what you wrote.

i don't consider the word banana racist and i was just searching for a random word. banana is a funny word.

i can see how someone could construe 'world banana champion' as racist. it wasn't meant as racist. Can you see the difference? I wasn't (obviously) thinking of hamilton's race when I wrote it. I was (and am) genuinely happy for and celebrating his success.

So actually, no issue with it being removed, its appropriate to remove it. but as the post above where you see me realise it demonstrates, yes, a reason was needed, because it really was not intentional.

I believe the phrase is ...Chinny Reckon? scratchchin

(seeing as you're claiming extreme naivety, for the avoidance of doubt I don't think anyone would believe you chose the phrase randomly.)

I am being wholly truthful. But i accept there is no way to prove it to anyone. I'm not really a tt, definitely not a racist, and quite probably extremely naive. And I am apologetic and I do support the post being removed, now that people have pointed out the unfortunate word choice to me.

He's either stupid or racist and I don't really feel the need to spend my hard earned down time reading from either social groups. It's why I try to avoid anything that Welshbeef posts in.
