gassing window inflated

Why does the gassing window sometimes jump to a bigger size on my screen so that I can't read the whole width of the page without scrolling left/right? eg general gassing looks like that today, but other forums don't.

Odd - or is it the weight of hot air the boys are adding??

It's often because people are embedding large pictures in their messages which are too wide for your screen. I think.

This is true for individual threads, it can also be caused by a posted URL that is too wide or a long stream of unbroken smilies.
