Classifieds now unusable.
Discussion
I reported some weeks ago that I was finding the classified pages were becoming problematic. I was asked for more information, which I provided, but heard nothing.
Over the past few weeks the classifieds have become slower and slower to use to a point where I have stopped using them. Out of interest, though, I thought I'd see how long it took me this morning to browse for a Porsche 997 GTS.
First off, the page loaded without the "make" drop-down. So I refreshed.
Second time ditto.
Third time the page froze and I had to use task manager to close it.
I opened classifieds again and went through the same process - no make drop-down, refresh, then it appeared but wouldn't drop down.
When I eventually got a full page of options, the manufacturer drop-down list was very slow. I'd try to scroll but it would chug down the list a few names at a time.
Once the maker was selected things speeded up a little, but the other drop-downs still behaved oddly.
12 minutes (just over) it took to see the cars for sale.
I am not a paying advertiser, so for me it is of no consequence beyond being a minor irritation. But if I were a paying advertiser I think I might be a bit miffed that anyone was giving up on looking at my ads because accessing them had become too difficult.
I have no problems with any other site by the way.

They won't do anything until you raise an official complaint in triplicate filling out their questionnaire: click.
Now that's customer service.
I provided all that weeks ago.Now that's customer service.
I don't like to moan and thought twice about mentioning it again, but Pistonheads really does need to give more of a toss about sorting stuff out.

Try the Ghostery progam. I was looking as the classifieds were so slow and there is another thread about this.
It appears to allow you to block access to a lot of the tracking that goes on behind the scenes.
On the face of it it seems to work and the pages load much more quickly.
Thanks, will try it.It appears to allow you to block access to a lot of the tracking that goes on behind the scenes.

I use Adblock largely for PH. I wonder how many other programs will be required to make the site usable.
Daft really, PH are not helping themselves by not sorting this stuff out.

I'm no lover of ph classifi d (I never really look at it) but I just tried your porsch 997 search and it took 30 secs. On an iPad with no content blocker. So maybe it's a windows problem on your pc?
Its the same on several PCs I use. Now it could of course be a IE / PC thing, but that combination is pretty common.Gassing Station | Website Feedback | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
