Bloody advertising!

Why is it now whenever I use pistonheads via my iPad as I scroll down I get some stupid magic school advert automatically start playing!
I try to hit pause, but as soon as I scroll down it starts to play again!
I just can't stop it and really hate the fact I'm forced to listen to it, and end up just turning off the site to do something else.
Anyone know what's going on? Is this the future now of PH?

Thanks for the feedback, Unfortunately, we have to have advertising as this revenue stream is crucial in maintaining the site, however, we never want it to interfere with the end users experience, so I will pass this onto our Ad Ops team to look into.

You should not be seeing auto play video or sound files.

This has either come via an ad exchange that has broken our set up rules which we will now investigate / block or possibly if you have seen elsewhere then a wider follow on your machine which your anti-virus should cleam up.

We would be grateful if you clarify the actual brand, yout operating system and if you using are out of UK then your location to.

U.S. Pistonheads members have been complaining about this for a while. It used to be that the ad would totally take over the iPhone browser. This was covered in a previous thread started by me called "PH mobile site down in the U.S." Today, all the same ads still run on the iPad under auto play and are f@cking loud.

I have been told that the Autoplay has been deactivated for both Phones and Tablets for some time now. If you could screen shot some of the ads that are playing that would help identify the problem.

I have been told that the Autoplay has been deactivated for both Phones and Tablets for some time now. If you could screen shot some of the ads that are playing that would help identify the problem.

It hasn't - they're still playing. Some bloke called Ollie Lot is banging on about pizza, and I really don't want to listen to him any more.

Please sort it out.

I'm increasingly fed up of invasive advertising on the web generally. The re-targeting stuff is stupid. I keep seeing adverts for stuff I've already bought. It's now got even more invasive so I'm getting email offers for stuff I've only been browsing on the web form.

My attitude is "fk Off and leave me alone!". I'll buy what I choose, when I choose to do so. So stop prying and following me around.

I gave up with it all this week and have finally installed AdBlock.

I appreciate stuff has to be funded - I'd rather pay a small sub for membership, or a small fee to access an ad free Pistonheads.

And don't get me started about all the CLICKBAIT st. Any website operator with an ounce of morality would refuse to countenance Taboola links and other such similar blatant misrepresentation and drivel.

That's understandable rlg43p and I think we all have our frustration with onsite advertising, but an interesting remkark about paid membership. It would be interesting to see what the other members view on this is?
