to quote or not to quote, that is the question
Discussion
There seems to be a general practice of quoting the entire contents of a previous message in a reply, which is making many threads unduly long (and tedious). I can't help thinking that this may be due to the "quote" icon on messages, which defaults to doing just that.
Might I suggest that the icon be modified to require part of a message to be highlighted first, to encourage more thought as to what is quoted? Sigs were a minor nuisance in comparison.

quote:I'd have thought someone reasonably competant with Javascrpt would be able to make something of getSelectedText.
ASP has no way of knowing what has been highlighted in a browser when you press the quote button.
