Scam adverts in motorhome section
Discussion
There is a spate of them on Gumtree too; vans at half what they should be, incomplete phone numbers and email addresses overlaid over the pics.
Gumtree keep deleting them, but they are in the paid for "Featured" section so I'm sure they're happy for the scammers to keep listing them...

I actually don't see anything that looks awry. Can you post a link or two in this thread to let me know which specific ads look suspicious?

Just for starters...... There are quite a few more.... To many to report individualy-Matt

This section of the classifieds seems to get spammed quite a bit.... I did offer to keep an eye on it but it was declined..

I've removed around 12 suspect ads. Do let me know if there are any more!

At an educated guess, I'd say that this one is a scam-Matt

There's also a horse box on the same page..... Seems to cheap, but I don't know anything about them, but the advert is in the same style which could be the giveaway....not sure on that one

Correct. Have removed that as well.
Also, removing the all caps in the headline...
Nice one. I only did caps to make sure it got the attention it deserved.......Also, removing the all caps in the headline...
Funny thing is though..... Although I know it's an obvious scam, due to the prices involved.....but I don't understand how they expect it to work...
Do they seriously believe someone is going to hand over £10k for what would be a £30k motorhome
And do they think that folk would buy sight unseen
They must be more stupid than I thought...... Spending time on the motorhome forums... Nobody buys a motorhome without seeing it.....

It could be quite sinister, as in turn up with 10K in cash to view a non-existent camper and then get turned over for the cash.
Mmm never thought of it that way........... But I would hope most folk wouldn't go for a first viewing with a pocket full of cash, not alone anywayMattDell said:
Sadly, it does happen.
How odd......Hard to understand really.... There are so many layouts, styles, etc etc, and then the condition of each van, mileage, accident damage, damp etc etc......buying a motorhome even from a bona fide dealer, can be an uncertain affair, but to hand over loads of cash to someone you don't know, for something you've never seen.....well that's a whole new level of stupid
