Why is PH Management so quick to stamp out good causes?

I have seen several perfectly innocent posts, some by regular PHers and show-goers, get stamped on as if they were rampantly racist.

What's the problem with charity events guys?

Primarily because it breaks the rules of posting

Rule 16 states you will not:-

Promote charity events or recruit for charitable donations.

If a post falls foul of this rule it will be routinely deleted when seen/reported.

HTH. explain.

Thanks Al; fair enough although I don't see the rationale behind it (other than that one might get bombarded by charities?)

This really. One of those rules where, when we're applying it to posters with a long history here it can seem a little punitive, but we need to have one rule for all on stuff like this. IIRC Ted put this in place originally, but essentially it is there to stop us being overrun with justgiving.com thread requests. Harsh I realise, but the upshot is that when we do back stuff and take it forward, we can raise a LOT of money, like we did for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, or like it looks like we're going to do on the Sailing Sunday Service.

That makes sense. A bit like PHEA backing what we know are going to be the best events, and doing them as well as possible, rather than trying to support every one-horse village fete smile

After running them via the main committee, events sub-committee and board of trustees I assume?

I don't think so; they sound awfully dull.

I won't go over what has already been covered by my colleagues, but I will add that events such as Caring with Cars, Fallen Bikers and the Tall Ships Sunday Service have all come from charity posts that have been requested or deleted.

If the cause is worthy and the event unique, we will always look at ways to make a better news story or at least point them to the (free) event calender.

Obviously this isn't the case with all of them, but it does show that we don't just delete and ignore.
