I don’t have a car up for sale currently, but would be entertained by someone stringing these poltroons along and posting the results.

We could even have some communal input into what to say next etc.

I must be blessed. I had Alex texting me last week, and just had an email exchange with "mikewilliams3773 at gmail.com". At least with email you can report it to gmail and who knows, they might even do something about it.

Hopefully Alex 07441 916029 will soon appear at the top of the Google search when anyone types in his number of 07441 916029.

I've had Jerry on the email today, who suddenly changed his name to Trevor! He wanted a report from InspectMyWheel.com and insisted their privacy policy would only allow sellers and dealers to run the reports! Contact details jeleeker5014@gmail.com

Previously had James who asked for a report from https://vinrecodes.com/public/ukvin and claimed the same privacy policy. Contact details jamesjay3586@gmail.com

Both offered to reimburse me, told them to choose somewhere else and pay for it themselves. They tried very hard to get me to pay but I explained it would never happen. Both claimed to live locally.

Haven't heard from either since!

Not easy being a seller anymore 😕

Yup , Alan Thompson is still up to his old tricks , very convincing! beware also of anyone asking for a report from inspectmywheel.com , they’ll send you a link and although the site looks legit are and provided reports , the link is a phishing scam .

Arse&)/oles , I spent ages cleaning the car and changed all my plans for two visits from two separate potential buyers and they were both asking for reports .

It’s ridiculous now - getting at least two scam enquiries a day.

50% are this ‘car check’ style, and 50% the ‘give me your IBAN / Paypal for a deposit’ style.

Iva hales has been waiting for my report, sadly my pdf reader is broke - and I am still waiting for her to send me some money so I can purchase a pdf reader

halesivay@gmail.com Was the email

Inbound enquiry was from :rickywormy+ldgyu73ak@gmail.com

Did some snooping and found Iva is based in Afghanistan or Iran - not the lovely countryside village outside of Cambridge

Seemingly Ricky and Iva must be dual personalities

This morning just had good old Alan - +44 7441 916029
Alan immediately was interested which was brilliant to hear, he even enquired if I wanted cash or bank transfer. He seems to have ghosted me after I said I just need his bank details and identity card to authorise any transfer

Pistonhead mods is there something we can do? Mask my phone like auto trader?

If you’re looking to hide your phone number, I can recommend the Hushed app. It’s great value, works well and you can switch up numbers as often as you like.

We're very sorry to hear that so many are still being affected by this. The team are investigating what we can do further to reduce scam/phishing attacks.

They're difficult to detect as they start out as genuine enough enquiries. You could in the interim remove your mobile number from your listing so that you can only receive email messages if you so wish.

Last night I had a few text and the usual crap from someone called Paul Wright - paulwright1499@outlook.com with this scam and also from a previous ad another from alanthompson249@gmail.com (07445004165)

I think you should start a specific "Scam thread" on here which appears at the start of the Forums list.
