Tyre choice for a Performante
Discussion
Hello all,
My Perf has P Zero Corsas fitted. I understand these are racing tyres which perform well in the dry and when they are warm. They also wear down quickly and are not so good in the wet and cold.
I need a set of new tyres now. I live in Scotland where isn’t often wet and cold. I also never track my car. Ever.
Therefore should I put something different on like normal P Zeros or even P Zeros PZ4 whatever they are.
What do you guys all do? Corsas are the most expensive which for me seems overkill if I’m not going to track the car. Should I stick with Corsas in case there is some warranty issue by using a different tyre?

Yes, the standard tyre is the P Zero. And it comes is a Lambo-specific tune. When you buy them, there’ll be a single capital “L” in the listing (like Porsche-specific tyres are labelled “N2”, etc.). And the tyres themselves have a capital “L” moulded into the sidewall ( that’s the only discernible external difference). People will tell you that it’s a marketing rip-off, but you’ll find that Lambo/Porsche/Aston-specific tyres are no more expensive than the standard carcass. But they DO have sidewall stiffnesses defined by the manufacturers. And sometimes different rubber compounds too. I’ve used them on my standard ‘05 car since I bought it 9 years/ 75,000 miles ago. But……..
They’re quite old tech. And I sometimes find their behaviour a little unpredictable. And they aquaplane a little under fast cornering. And I generally think that they could be improved upon.
The R8 community (and let’s face it, under the party frock, they’re the same sports car) swear by the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (PS4S). Which is being replaced by the similar-behaving PS5. When I next replace my summer tyres (my winter wheels are shod with the Lambo-specific Pirelli Sottozeros), it’ll be with the much more up-to-date Michelins.

Was speaking with a member of my driving club on the weekend and Lamborghini told him that moving away from P-Zeros would invalidate his warranty.
Manufacturers like to come away with this nonsense but it’s not true and illegal.Unless changes cause a specific problem the warranty stands.
The new tyres would have to cause a failure and then that failure would not be covered by warranty, that’s all.
